What sets The Peninsula Paris apart
The building
A grand hotel of 1908 in pale stone, a few hundred metres down the avenue Kléber from the Arc de Triomphe. Its lobby, its staircases and its gilded salons were restored by hand over four years.
The rooftop
A restaurant and terrace on the roof, with a view across the 16th arrondissement to the Eiffel Tower, built around a replica of the biplane in which two French aviators tried to cross the Atlantic in 1927.
The rooms
Among the largest in Paris, and the most technical: everything in the room is worked from tablets beside the bed. The best suites have private roof gardens.
Spa and pool
A spa on the lower level, with an indoor swimming pool.

A hotel with a walk-on part in history
The Hotel Majestic was built between 1906 and 1908 on the site of the palace of a Russian nobleman, where Queen Isabella II of Spain had lived in exile. In the First World War it served as a hospital.
The French state bought it in 1936. The German military command in France occupied it from 1940 to 1944. After the war it was the first headquarters of UNESCO, and then a conference centre of the foreign ministry: the agreement that ended American involvement in the Vietnam War was signed here in January 1973.
It was sold in 2008 and reopened on 1 August 2014 as The Peninsula Paris, the first European hotel of the Hong Kong group. It holds the Palace distinction.
